U.S.R. Indu Samiti at a Glance
A Distinct Identity
As per the census 2011 there are about 2.68 crore differently abled persons in India, which is about 2.21% of total population of India. Special Need Persons are large minority groups, starved of services and mostly ignored by society, live in isolation, segregation, poverty, charity and even pity. Disability includes blindness, low vision, leprosy-cured, hearing impairment, loco motor disability, mental retardation and mental illness. Due to discrimination, they do not go to public places and are not free to get those rights which a non-disabled person gets. They are deprived of education and employment.
Seeing the need of persons with disabilities, back in year 1998 U.S.R. Indu Samiti (NGO) was established with opening of a day boarding school for special need children at village Basai, Ramnagar, Nainital, which was upgraded to residential school in year 2012. Keeping in mind the difficulties faced by special need children, J.S.R. Residential School for Special Need Children.
